An extremely light and delicate piece of ceramic art by Sarah Dalton – the form, which takes inspiration from the traditional miniature Japanese tea bowls, has been sculpted to feature a sweeping undulation along the rim. The fine white earthenware provides an excellent canvas for her intricate artwork; created using a combination of underglazes, oxides and engobes (with subsequent satin matte overglaze). The stylised tiny bird and branch-work, set against an ethereal landscape is inspired by the Northumbrian Hills where Sarah works. A small pool of partially crackled tinted glass fusion lies at the base of the interior. The artist’s initials are inscribed into the base.
