Tanya McCallin is a studio potter based in London, with a professional background in Theatre and Opera Design. In 2015 she completed the City Lit Ceramics Diploma. Her pots are simple, elemental and essentially universal, using porcelain, stoneware and earthenware bodies. The surface is frequently left bare, highly polished or worked with metal oxides and glazes. They are a spare distillation of form describing contained space. There is interest in the edges of vessels, their form, material structure and surface, but also in their group dynamics, in their relationship to each other and the architectural spaces they inhabit.
