Thrown stoneware bowl with fossils and pewter foot.


This is a wheel thrown stoneware bowl with pewter foot by Lorraine Bates. Sprigged with Silurian fossils made from examples collected from the Black Country UNESCO Geopark and glazed with local minerals to make a reactive glaze coloured with metal oxides of crocus martis, copper and cobalt.
The pewter foot is planished and engraved with the Birmingham anchor pewter mark of Woodsetton and the potteries makers mark.
