Tall Thin Bale Vessel

Kathryn Hearn lives in the Cambridgeshire Fens and her work reflects its visual resonance and its attitudes. This work refers to a series of vessels made working on her allotment during Covid 19 Lockdown. The construction of these handbuilt porcelain work with Dolomite glazes acknowledge the casual and utilitarian nature of allotmenteers using whatever is to hand to make it function. As long as it works it doesn’t matter what it looks like. It has to keep the pests away, protect from the weather and prop up growing crops.
