Small Fenland Moon Jar-Balancing

Made by: Kathryn Hearn

Kathryn Hearn built this, porcelain, paperclay Moon Jar with strata’d inclusions and as a response to the enormity of the Fenland skies and landscape. The huge bales of straw and hay are often precariously balanced at the skyline with strong shadows and moody colours.

Also a reference to the Korean Moon Jar at the Fitzwilliam Museum in Cambridge. This vesselnis stamped with the maker’s Mark.
