Pale anagama fired tsubo

£130.00

Anagama fired jar from the May firing at the Oxford anagama kiln.  The pots went in the kiln completely unglazed and were wood-fired for 3 days and 3 nights. The kiln reached 1300 degrees C which means the clay is absolutely vitrified. All the colours, hues and marks are the result of flames and ash in the kiln atmosphere. This one gathered lots of ash on top that melted (main picture) while the res of the pot is quite pale but glossy and speckled with iron coming through to the surface.

The maker’s mark is at the bottom of the pot.
