Miniature Tea Bowl

An incredibly light and delicate piece of ceramic art by Sarah Dalton – the form of which takes inspiration from the traditional miniature Japanese tea bowls. The fine white earthenware provides a superb surface for her intricate artwork; created using a combination of underglazes, oxides and engobes (with subsequent satin matte overglaze). The stylised bird and branch-work, set against an ethereal landscape is inspired by the Northumbrian Hills where Sarah works. A tiny pool of crackled tinted glass fusion adds an extra feature to the base of the interior. The artist’s initials are inscribed into the base.
