Medium White Volunteer Vessel

£260.00

Kathryn Hearn made these Volunteer vessels with straps of porcelain to refer to the craft of the potter in making handles. This also acknowledges the farmer’s craft which is probably taken for granted in the highly mechanized industrial farming of the fens where she lives. The title and composition of the vessel of ‘volunteer’ relates to the weeds which collect on the periphery of the field left over from the crop harvested. The deconstructed building technique she uses is to create a casual and unselfconscious aesthetic.
