Kurinuki green vase

Kurinuki vase in speckled white stoneware. Kurinuki is an ancient Japanese hand-forming process where you start from a solid block of clay. You carefully hollow out the inside and texture or carve the outside. It is a substracting technique more akin to sculpture.

Finished with a dark green crackle celadon glaze. The iron speckle are still visible through the glaze. The maker’s mark is on the bottom of the piece.
