Kurinuki black clay vase

Kurinuki vase in black, smooth clay. Kurinuki is an ancient Japanese hand-forming process where you start from a solid block of clay. You carefully hollow out the inside and texture or carve the outside. It is a substracting technique more akin to sculpture. Finished with a celadon glaze that gives a variety of greens and blues depending on the light you’re holding the piece in.
