Asymmetric Conical Bowl

Sarah Dalton has used this smooth and flowing white earthenware ceramic form as the perfect canvas for her painterly artwork, accomplished with underglazes (and sealed with a satin matt overglaze). Sarah has created an atmospheric landscape by diluting the underglazes to almost watercolour-like consistency, thereby gradually building up the background landscape as a series of carefully applied washes; followed by the creation of the foreground branch-work using a long Chinese calligraphic brush. A pool of crackled transparent glass fusion adds further intrigue to the interior of the vessel. The artist’s initials are inscribed into the base.
