“Aestel” carved stoneware and planished pewter screen stylus

£30.00

Stoneware and pewter screen stylus with conductive rubber tip by Lorraine Bates.
The bead is glazed using reactive glaze formulated from local minerals and cobalt and copper.
“Aestel” was the Anglo Saxon word thought to denote a precious pointer or page turner; as in The Alfred Jewel.
A design inspired by work done by Woodsetton in conjunction with Birmingham Museum and Art Gallery and their collection of the Staffordshire Hoard.
The potter comes from a family of pewter smiths and also makes the metal components used for the essential good functioning of the piece.
Eminently usable with spare tips available.
